The Municipality seeks to appoint highly motivated and suitably qualified persons to the following positions:
The following vacancies exist within the WATER SERVICES DEPARTMENT:
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Total Cost to Employer: R 440 852 pa (Including Car Allowance)
Reporting to the Area Manager: North, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following, inter alia:
- Ensuring that consumers receive an uninterrupted supply of water and ensuring that water losses are kept to a minimum
- Conducting of site inspections in an effort to ensure that tasks are carried out in line with best engineering practices
- Consulting with Consulting Engineers regarding present and future projects
- Designing of reticulation systems and related structures
- Monitoring and controlling the operations and maintenance requirements of the Water Distribution and Reticulation Plant
- Planning predictive and routine maintenance requirements, detailing specifications of materials and repairs and replacement sequences, monitoring the application and progress against deadlines of internal maintenance teams and external contractors involved with interventions
- Investigating opportunities to improve operations and minimize losses through the introduction of quality control procedures, changes in chemical and materials application and, or process improvement initiatives
- Ensuring that Occupational Health & Safety regulations are complied
- Reporting to management on activities, progress or problems
Requirements:
- A valid Grade 12 certificate
- A valid degree or diploma in Civil Engineering
- Three (3) years relevant experience within a comparable environment
- The successful incumbent will be expected to work on own initiative.
- A valid clean Code B drivers licence is essential
- Proficiency in both English and isiZulu would be advantageous
