The KwaBhudubhudu community was in high spirits when Ugu Mayor, Cllr Sithembiso Cele announced that 250 households in the area will receive the VIP toilets, at a cost of R5000 per unit.

Work on the installation of these VIP toilets is scheduled to commence within two weeks.

This marvellous news was relayed to the community on Friday at a sod turning ceremony at KwaBhudubhudu Community Hall in Ward 5.

However, the community will receive more than just toilets, as this development will be accompanied by numerous job opportunities for some members of the Ward 5 community

An overwhelmed Ms Malembede Ncwane said she is extremely excited that Mayor Cele has given the area VIP toilets. "I am lost for words. I am extremely happy that we are receiving good quality toilets. I built my current toilet myself and it is in an appalling condition", said the 65 year old mother of four.

Ncwane said that it also brings the Ward 5 community joy that their dark area will be a priority in the installations of electricity in the near future. Mayor Cele on Sunday met with the National Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bulelwa Sonjica to discuss the electricity predicament in Ugu and Ward 5 was also part of the discussions.

More fabulous news for this deeply rural area was revealed by Mayor Cele. He announced that from 16 March 2009, work to bring water closer to the people will commence in the area. "I am confident that by July/August this year, Ward 5 community will be drinking Ugu water," said Mayor..
Madam Mayor Duma of Vulamehlo Municipality thanked Ugu on behalf of the community telling the community that more developmental initiatives are in the pipeline. "It brings warmth to my heart to know that the kwaBhudubhudu community is in government's plans for. People can now visit the toilet in dignity and stop using the bushes to relieve themselves"
