Lira Port Shepstone, on the KZN South Coast comes alive again, as music lovers from all walks of life descend on Marburg Sports Grounds for the 3rd annual UGU JAZZ Festival on the 27th June 2009.

An awesome line-up has been put together for patrons to be kept entertained from the beginning of the show until early hours of the morning.

Leading the pack is Lira, this year's SAMA multiple award winner, with four SAMAs to her name. The sassy singer makes a welcome return to the show, this after her excellent performance following her latest award wining album, Soul in Mind. Amongst other South Africa's top performing Afro- jazz maestros to make an appearance are the legendary and internationally acclaimed Caiphus SemenyaCaiphus Semenya, Selaelo Selota, kwaai-jazz master Dona Laka, Ringo Madlingozi and Siphokazi. Representing KwaZulu Natal is SAMA Best Newcomer, Andile Mseleku, Bongi Dube and Ntokozo Masinga, and a host of other talented local artists.

DJ Siyanda and DJ Muntu will walk the thousands of fans expected at this year's event down memory lane, on the ones and twos, playing hits from yester-year!

Selaelo Selota Don LakaPositioned as a family event, the festival takes place during the warm South Coast winter and patrons can bring their camping gear, braai stands and drinks. For those who prefer to travel empty handed, drinks will be on sale at the numerous satellite point of sales and will be clearly demarcated as a beer garden for the use by adults only, given the family sprit of the event.

Mdu Ngcobo from Touch Africa, event organiser for the Ugu District Municipality said the municipality also positioned the event within the euphoria of the Confederations Cup as well as the World Cup. "Ugu is one of the four districts in the province to host official public viewing areas, with the support of the provincial government. To this end, the final of the Confederations Cup will broadcast live on big screens, the day after the music extravaganza", he said.

Ringo Madlingozi Brian Dube, the head of the municipality's communications department urged patrons to make early bookings for accommodation on the South Coast, to ensure they enjoy festival and the other products and events on offer during the winter holiday season. "Accommodation enquires can made at the Port Shepstone or Margate Tourism Offices on 039 682 2455 or 039 312 2322 respectively".
